Stephen J. Cheetham

Since 1991 Dr. Cheetham has been a Chartered Engineer and Corporate Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

In 1988 he completed research work within the faculty of Engineering of the University of Sheffield for which he received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. In 1984 he completed an Enhanced Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and in 1980 he completed T.E.C. level 3 in Mechanical and Production Engineering.

From 1991 to-date he has worked as a Consulting Forensic Engineer, and has traded as S.J. Cheetham & Associates (now Cheetham Associates Ltd) since February 1997. During this period he has carried out investigations, prepared objective liability reports and has given expert evidence in Court in relation to matters concerning personal injury, road traffic, industrial diseases and disputes of a technical nature.

From 1978 until 1991 Dr. Cheetham was employed within the steel industry and following the completion of an in-house training scheme he carried out work involved in the installation and commissioning of heavy steel processing equipment in the UK and abroad, the preparation of engineering drawings, computer models, and engineering calculations relating to the design of new equipment. From 1989 until 1991, as Senior Proposals Engineer, his work was concerned with the early stages of the design of plant and equipment, and delivering presentations in the form of design proposals to prospective customers.

Since 1999, in addition to his work as a Consulting Forensic Engineer, he has managed various projects involving control, mechanical and electrical design engineering work on products aimed at various market sectors.
